Oh yes.  In fact, check out this chart from www.homeadvisor.com showing you the average cost for a roof replacement in our area (here around Greensboro, North Carolina, Lexington, NC, Winston Salem, NC, Salisbury, NC, Oak Ridge, NC, Kernersville, NC – basically the Piedmont and Foothills of NC):

So the typical cost for our area is $4607 – $8637.  However, having your roof professionally cleaned will cost you about 1/10th of that cost!

Yes!  Your roof is, in most cases, designed to last 20 – 30 years.  However, if you have lichen or moss or nasty black algae growing on your roof, the lifespan of your roofing system can be considerably less.  Moss and lichen actually create root systems that wreak havoc on your roof, causing permanent damage, leaks or even health concerns.
